World Taekwondo Federation is simply known as WTF. But this oft-used acronym is more popularly known for its what the slang, ever made popularised by the constant use of shorthands.

The WTF secretary general, Hoss Rafaty, told insidethegames that the governing body would look to market itself as World Taekwondo for business and commercial purposes, although there are no current plans to officially change the organisations name.

The move is being considered as part of the world governing bodys new five-point development roadmap, in which innovating taekwondo events and raising the profile and awareness of the sport is a major aim.

The World Taekwondo Grand Prix and the World Taekwondo World Championships have already been renamed after the matter was discussed at the bodys extraordinary council meeting in Mexico City earlier in December.
